Local History Museum
The museum is housed in the "Hoamathaus" which was built in 1408 and was originally for local miners. They worked ore mines locally, especially in Flachau. Later, the house was used as a retirement home and has been known since then as a so-called "Bruderhaus".
It was not until 1970, when a new retirement home was established, that the present "Heimatmuseum" was developed from the Bruderhaus.

A farmhouse smoke kitchen, the nursery school, the shooting room, a sacred room, a school class, the bathing room, the costume chamber and a perchten room offer visitors an interesting overview of the life and culture of our ancestors.

Dechantshof barn
A unique selection of farming equipment has been collected here since 1981 in the Dechantshof barn, making this the second part of the local history museum.

Parish church:
The parish church in Altenmarkt was probably built in the 14th century by the priest "Reicher von Etling" who lived in Altenmarkt between 1369 and 1399. After the Peasant's War in 1526 parts of the church were destroyed and the church was significantly changed through reconstructions and alterations. From 1867 to 1875 the parish church was restored in the style of the Gothic Revival. The church also has three chapels: the Anna-, Lourdes-, Markt- and Tannenkapelle.
