15,000 magnificent square metres - 2,000 fascinating exhibits – travelling through 1,300 years
The new DomQuartier (Cathedral Quarter) offers visitors the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the prince archbishops. The former centre of archepiscopal power – an enthralling collection of architecture, art and history of power - unique in Europe - brought to life again after 200 years.
The tour leads from the state rooms of the Residence and the Residence gallery over the northern cathedral bridge to the cathedral, where not only special exhibitions in the lateral oratorios but also the treasures of the cathedral museum can be seen. From there, it goes on to the art and wonder hall, and immediately afterwards to the "Long Gallery", which is filled with baroque paintings. The outstanding art treasures of the newly established St. Peter’s Museum are on display in the rooms of the so-called Wallis tracts. After a glimpse of the famous Gothic choir of the Franciscan Church, the tour ends in the splendid Carabinieri Hall in the Residence.
