Winter sports in Austria have many facets. Tobogganing is on the rise. If you spend your winter vacation in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, you can choose between four toboggan runs and try out the classic toboggan or the Zifpfelbob for a speedy descent. Particularly romantic is the night tobogganing on illuminated tracks through the winter forest.
Combine your tobogganing adventure with a fun evening in a hut and stop off in one of the cozy huts right next to the lifts. You can rent the sledges in the huts (from 4 Euro/p.p./day). At the Berggasthof Winterbauer there is also a Zipfelbob. Price reductions are available with the Salzburger Sportwelt Card.
If you choose, for example, the Hochnössleralm or Bifei's Hütt'n, you'll ski over 3.2 km through the winter-white fairytale forest, catching beautiful views of idyllic Altenmarkt and the wide, open valley with the striking Dachstein again and again along the way.
It is possible to walk up the toboggan runs. Alternatively, you can take the lift or toboggan taxi up (depending on the run).
Renting a toboggan costs from € 4/toboggan/day at the huts. Renting a toboggan at the Königslehen valley station costs € 10/toboggan (€ 5 deposit).
You can hire the toboggans directly at the toboggan huts or at the Königslehen valley station in Radstadt.
No, the hut operators do that for you. At the end of the toboggan run there is a gathering place for all toboggans.
Yes, of course you can also sleigh down the mountain with your own toboggan.
